4CV Fraction Vocab

Vocab Practice for Mrs. Stauffer's 4th graders

TermDefinition
Numerator The TOP number in a fraction, the part
Denominator The BOTTOM number in a fraction, the whole
Unlike Fractions Fractions that have DIFFERENT DENOMINATORS
Mixed Number A number made up of a whole number and a fraction.
Like Fractions Fractions that have the SAME DENOMINATOR.
Proper Fraction Fraction when the numerator is SMALLER than the denominator.
Equivalent Fractions Fractions that name the same number.
Fraction A number in the form a/b. that names part of a whole
Improper Fraction A fraction whose numerator is EQUAL TO or LARGER THAN the denominator.
Unit Fraction A fraction whose NUMERATOR is 1.
Whole Number as a Fraction A fraction whose DENOMINATOR is 1.
