| What is the difference between heterozygous and homozygous genotypes? | Heterozygous means two different alleles. Tt. Homozygous means two of the same alleles TT or tt. |
| What genotype is considered hybrid? | Hybrid means different alleles, Tt. |
| What genotype is considered purebred? | Purebred means the same alleles TT, or tt. |
| What is a genotype ? | The genes represented with letters,: Tt, TT, tt. |
| What is a phenotype? | A physical trait: blonde hair, blue eyes, etc |
| How many alleles for a trait does each parent have? | Each parent contributes one allele for each trait. |
| How many chromosomes do we have? | Each parent gives 23 chromosomes, to total 46, 23 pairs. |
| What is a dominant allele represented by? When does a dominant phenotype show up? | Dominant alleles are represented by a capital letter, they show up in a phenotype whenever they are present. Bb, or BB, the dominant trait would show. |
| Why would a Punnett Square be used in genetics? | Punnet squares are used to predict possible outcomes in offspring, to find the probability of having offspring with a certain trait. |
| If the dad is dominant blue eyes, BB. And the mom is recessive green, bb. What chance does their their child have of having blue eyes. | 100% |
| When given two heterozygous brown eyed parents, B= brown, b=blue. What percent of the offspring is expected to have brown eyes. | 75% |
