Crude oil Also known as petroleum, is found as a liquid by drilling a hole in the earths crust.
How are fossil fuels made The layers of sediment were often several kilometers thick. Heat and pressure changed the decaying organic matter into coal, oil, and natural gas. They were formed from plants and animals that lived long ago.
