Photosynthesis Energy from the Sun is converted to chemical energy in glucose.
Reactants of Photosynthesis Water, carbon dioxide and light energy

Cellular Respiration Is a process used by all plants and animals to obtain energy from food.
Basal Metabolic Rate the number of calories your body burns at rest to maintain normal body functions
BMI – Body Mass Index an initial way to measure body mass to height. This does not account for activity level or other factors.
Homeostasis Maintaining a person's internal temperature while the outside temperature changes.
Metabolism The body's rate at which it uses energy. High metabolism high energy.
Carbohydrates -This is a major source of energy for people throughout the world. -Contain 4 kcal/gram. -Found in rice, pasta, potatoes and bread.
3 types of carbs Simple sugars, total fibre and complex carbohydrates
Glycogen Starch based substance stored in muscles and the liver.
Fats There are saturated fats, unsaturated fats, essential fatty acids and cholesterol. They give the body 9 kcal/gram.
Saturated Fats Come from animal fats and from some oils. These types of fats are associated with an increased risk of heart disease.
Unsaturated Fats Include most vegetable oils, such as Canola™ and olive. These fats are associated with reducing the risk of heart disease
Proteins Found in meat, lentils, grains and beans
