Terms for the whole unit
| Term | Definition |

| Variable | A letter or symbol used to represent one or more numbers, normally the unknown. |
| Sum | The result of addition |
| Quotient | The result of division of one quantity by another. |
| Quanity | Any amount |
| Product | A quantity obtained by multiplication |
| Order of operations | Order you follow to complete a number sentence. Parenthesis, Exponents, multiplication, division, addition, subtraction. |
| Multiple | The product of a whole number and any other whole number. |
| Greater Than | Used to compare two numbers (or expressions) when the first number is larger than the second (>) |
| Factor | two or more numbers that are multiplied together to form together. |
| Expression | A variable or combination of variables, numbers and symbols that represent a mathematical relationship; it does not have an equal sign. |
| Equation | A mathematical sentence that contains and equal sign |
| Equivalent | Values that are equal |
| Divisor | The number that divides the dividend. |
| Dividend | The number being divided. |
| Coefficient | The numerical factor of a term that contains a variable; the number directly in front of the variable |
| Constant | A term that does not contain a variable |
| Algebraic Expression | A combination of variables, numbers, and at least one operation. |
