| Average | The sum of the items in a set of data divided by the number of items in the set. |
| Mean | The sum of the items in a set of data divided by the number of items in the set. |
| Categorical data | Data that consists of non numeric information. |
| Cluster | A group of data points close together on a dot plot |
| Measure of Center | A single number used to describe a set of numeric data. (Mean and Median |
| Median | The middle number or the average of the 2 middle numbers in an ordered set of data. |
| Mode | The number or numbers that occur most frequently in a set of data. |
| Lower Quartile | The median of the lower half of the data |
| Upper Quartile | The median of the upper half of the data. |
| Measure of Spread | A single number that describes the spread of the data. Range and Mode. |
| Interquartile Range (IQR) | Difference of the upper quartile and lower quartile. |
| Range | Difference of the greatest value and the least value in a set of data. |

| Statistical Question | A question that anticipates variability in the answer. |
| Variability | Measures of much the data points will differ or vary from each other. |
| Peak | The maximum frequency of a data set. |
| Uniform Distribution | Describes the shape when the values of the data set are equally spread across the range. |
| Symmetrical Distribution | Describes a set of data in which the shape of the left side is roughly the same shape as the right side. |
