Quadrilaterals

| POLYGON | A closed, plane geometric figure made of straight line segments. No curves. No openings. |
| QUADRILATERAL | A polygon with 4 straight sides. Examples: parallelogram, rectangle, square, rhombus, trapezoid |
| PARALLELOGRAM | A quadrilateral with 2 pairs of parallel sides. Opposite sides are congruent (the same length). |
| RECTANGLE | A quadrilateral and a parallelogram. It has 4 right angles and opposite sides that are parallel and congruent. |
| SQUARE | A quadrilateral and a parallelogram. It is also a rectangle. It has 4 right angles and all 4 sides are congruent (the same length). |
| RHOMBUS | A quadrilateral and a parallelogram. It has 4 congruent sides and opposite sides are parallel. Opposite angles are also congruent. |
| TRAPEZOID | It is a quadrilateral. It has exactly one pair of parallel sides. It is NOT a parallelogram. |
