biogenetics (n.) the branch of biology concerned with altering the genomes of living organisms.
clip (v.) to fasten something with a clip.
combat (v.) to fight, try to stop from getting worse or happening.
crucial (adj.) extremely important or necessary; essential.
deficiency (n.) state of not having, or not having enough, of something that is needed.
fossil (n.) any preserved remains or imprint of a living organism, usually of a former geologic age, as a bone, shell, or leaf impression.
gill (n.) the organ through which fish and other water creatures breathe. one of the openings on the side of a fish's head through which it breathes.
instrumental (adj.) If someone or something is instrumental in a process, plan or system, they are one of the most important influences in causing it to happen.
intervene (v.) to intentionally become involved in a difficult situation in order to improve it or prevent it from getting worse.
predatory (adj.) A predatory animal kills and eats other animals.
primate (n.) a member of the most developed and intelligent group of mammals that includes monkeys and apes.
redundant (adj.) not needed, unnecessary.
re-engineering (n.) the process of changing and improving the design of a product or system.
food/crops reengineering: changing the genetic structure of food, plants, agricultural produce.
slouch (v.) to stand, sit or walk with the shoulders hanging forward and the head bent slightly over.
slouch detector (n.) a slouch detector is a small gadget that monitors your neck and spinal position and buzzes when your position is not correct.
spine (n.) the line of bones down the center of the back that provides support for the body.
substantial (adj.) large in size, value or importance.
super foods (n.) super foods are crops, e.g. food, vegetables, etc. that are enriched with certain substances such as vitamins and minerals.
tickle (v.) to touch someone lightly with your fingers making them laugh.
