| clip (v.) | to fasten something with a clip. |
| combat (v.) | to fight, try to stop from getting worse or happening. |
| crucial (adj.) | extremely important or necessary; essential. |
| deficiency (n.) | state of not having, or not having enough, of something that is needed. |
| fossil (n.) | any preserved remains or imprint of a living organism, usually of a former geologic age, as a bone, shell, or leaf impression. |
| gill (n.) | the organ through which fish and other water creatures breathe. one of the openings on the side of a fish's head through which it breathes. |
| instrumental (adj.) | If someone or something is instrumental in a process, plan or system, they are one of the most important influences in causing it to happen. |
| intervene (v.) | to intentionally become involved in a difficult situation in order to improve it or prevent it from getting worse. |
| predatory (adj.) | A predatory animal kills and eats other animals. |

| super foods (n.) | super foods are crops, e.g. food, vegetables, etc. that are enriched with certain substances such as vitamins and minerals. |
