QuestionAnswer
An organized body of knowledge about the natural universe and the processes by which that knowledge is acquired and tested. Science
An investigative process that holds that no concept or model of nature is valid unless the predictions it generates agree with experiments. That is, all hypotheses based on as much relevant data as possible and then should be tested and verified. Scientific method
A fixed and reproducible value for the purpose of taking accurate measurements. Standard unit
A group of standard units and their combinations. The two major systems of units in use today are the metric (SI) system and the British system. System of units
The decimal (base-) system of units employed predominantly throughout the world. Metric system
The system of units still often used in the United States, wherein the foot, pound, and second are the standards of length, weight, and time, respectively. The system is sometimes referred to as the fps (foot-pound-second) system. British system
The measurement of space in any direction. Length
The standard unit of length in the metric system. It is equal to inches, or feet. Meter
A quantity of matter and a measure of the amount of inertia that an object possesses. Mass
The standard metric unit of mass; kilogram has an equivalent weight of pounds. Kilogram

The standard unit of time. It is now defined in terms of the frequency of a certain transition in the cesium atom. Second

A measure of the compactness of the matter or mass of a substance using a ratio of mass to volume; p= m/v Density
An equivalence statement expressed as a ratio. Conversion factor
A method of expressing measured numbers properly; involves the accuracy of measurement and mathematical operations. Significant figures
