What is the purpose of tattletales? Indicate the amount of tension on mooring lines
How do you read a tattletale? If straight, 25% of mooring line breaking strength has been reached. If broken, 50% of mooring line breaking strength has been exceeded.
I’d tattletale is broken, what actions are to be taken? Call deck department Post a watch in area

What if you cannot separate the CO from who he is with when the CO is under duress? Try to get location of where the CO is going. Example: XO wants to meet with him Have reports that need to be signed, where would you like them sent?
How would you let security know the CO is under duress? Call on J-Dial, not hydra
How do you render honors between first call and colors for CO arrival? Give them “silent honors” on hydra, then pass announcements after colors.
How are honors rendered overseas? “Silent honors” on hydra
How are honors rendered if CO already arrived once today? “Returning”
What do you do if you begin honors for the CO as he is coming up the brow, he goes back to the pier for something, and then the Admiral comes aboard before you finish the CO’s honors? Inform the Admiral you already started honors for the CO and will do his after you finish the CO’s honors.
What if the Admiral demands his honors of you haven’t finished the CO’s honors? Give them to him.
How many bells for visiting CO’s who are Captains and Commanders? 4
