Monster Vocab

TermDefinition
Voice Over A narrator or a character is heard by the audience but not shown on screen speaking.
Medium Shot Used most frequently. Some background is still seen and characters’ facial expressions can still be seen.
Close-Up The camera is extremely close to the subject – often the face of a person – so that the subject takes up most of the shot.
Long Shot The camera is a long distance from the subject being shot.
Felony Murder Charged if someone is killed (on purpose or accidentally) during a dangerous/felony crime.
Prosecutor/Assistant District Attorney A lawyer (usually works for the state) who tries to prove the defendant is guilty.
Stenographer Types quickly and transcribes what is said and done in the courtroom.
Admissible Referring to evidence that is valid and acceptable.
Merits The actual and intrinsic rights and wrongs of an issue as distinct from extraneous matters and technicalities.
Infringe To limit or restrict.
Impede To interfere with or slow down
Conspirator Someone involved in a secret plan to commit illegal or harmful actions.
Defendant Is on trial for allegedly committing a crime. Is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
Reasonable Doubt Juries are instructed to find defendants innocent IF they have some doubt as to their guilt.
Just Fair. The jury should make their decision based only on the facts presented during the trial.
