Rocks and Rock Cycle

Geologist A person who studies rocks and minerals and study’s Earth’s crust how the Earth changes over time.
Mineral solid, non-living material found in nature that has a definite chemical makeup
Rock solid, non-living material found in nature that is made up of minerals
Lava melted rock above Earth’s crust
Magma melted rock below Earth’s crust
Sediment pieces of rock that can be either gravel, silt, and or clay;
Igneous Rock formed when magma cools. 2 Types-Intrusive(formed inside the Earth) and Extrusive(formed outside the Earth)
Sedimentary Rock formed when sediment is compacted and cemented together over a period of time; can tell us about things in the past
Metamorphic Rock formed under Earth’s surface by an intense heat and pressure. Both Igneous and Sedimentary can become Metamorphic rock.
