Unit 3: Equations, inequations and systems.

TermDefinition
Biquadratic equation Biquadratic equations are fourth-degree equations with no odd-degree terms. ax4 + bx2 + c = 0
Rational equation An equation contains at least one algebraic fraction.
Equations with radicals Equations where x is under a square root.
Exponential equations Exponential equations are equations where the unknown is in the exponent.
Logarithmic equations Logarithmic equations are equations where the unknown is in an expression affected by a logarithm. We solve them by looking at the properties of the logarithms.
System of linear equations Two equations form a system of equations when our aim is to find a common solution. If both equations are linear, it is called a linear system. ax + by = c a'x + b'y = c'
