| Factor | A number that is multiplied by another number. |
| Product | The answer to a multiplication problem. |
| Dividend | A number being divided. |
| Divisor | The number by which the dividend is being divided. |
| Quotient | The answer to a division problem. |
| Fact Family | A group of related facts using the same three numbers. |
| Commutative Property of Multiplication | The property that states the order in which two numbers are multiplied does not change the product. |
| Zero Property of Multiplication | The property that states any number multiplied by zero is zero. |
| Identity Property of Multiplication | The property that states when any number is multiplied by one the product is that number. |
| Associative Property of Multiplication | The property that states the groupings of the factors does not change the product. |
| Decompose | A way to break down a number into factors. |
| Area Model | A rectangle diagram used to solve multiplication problems in which the factors getting multiplied define the length and width of a rectangle. |
| Distributive Property of Multiplication | Property that states you can multiply the addends of a number and then add the products. |
| Partial Products | The products found by breaking apart a factor into ones, tens, hundreds, and so on, and multiplying each of these by the other factor. |
| Regroup | Uses place value to exchange equal amounts when renaming a number. |
