Multiplication and Division
| Term | Definition |

| Associative Property of Multiplication | The grouping of the factors does not change the product. |
| Commutative Property of Multiplication | The order in which two numbers are multiplied does not change the product. |
| decompose | To break apart a number. |
| dividend | A number that is being divided. |
| divisor | The number by which the dividend is being divided. |
| fact family | A group of related facts using the same numbers. |
| factor | A number that divides a whole number evenly. Also, a number that is multiplied by another number. |
| Identity Property of Multiplication | When any number is multiplied by 1, the product is that number. |
| multiple | A multiple of a number is the product of that number and a whole number. |
| product | The answer to a multiplication problem. |
| quotient | The answer to a division problem. |
| repeated subtraction | Subtraction of the same subtrahend over and over again. |
| Zero Property of Multiplication | When any number is multiplied by 0, the product is 0. |
| Distributive Property | A property where you multiply the addends of a number and then add the products |
| partial products | The products of each place value are found separately, and then added together. |
| regroup | use place value to exchange equal amounts when renaming a number |
