How did the Great Compromise guarantee the power of the government would remain in the hands of the people? By having the size of the population determine the number of representatives in the House of Representatives and by breaking the strength of the government into three separate branches.

Why did many southerners object to the ending of the slave trade? They feared that the southern economy would be ruined if slavery were outlawed.
Why did James Madison choose three-fifths to solve the question of counting slaves? It equalized the population with the northern states.
How did Northerners view slavery? They wished it would be ended or that the South would pay property taxes on its slaves.
How did Southerners view slavery? It was a necessary labor force.

Why did the Framers choose the Electoral College over popular election? They feared the ill-educated people would choose based on the region in which they lived.
Why did Anti-Federalists oppose the Constitution? It failed to protect the rights of the people and gave too much power to the chief executive.
