multiplication unit vocabulary 4th grade

TermDefinition
array a rectangular arrangement of items, such as squares or dots, organized in rows and colums
composite number a counting number that has more than two unique factors
even number any number that is divisible by two; all numbers with 0, 2, 4, 6, or 8 in the ones place
factor a number that divides exactly into a whole number
odd number a number that is not divisible by two; all numbers with a 1, 3, 5, 7, or 9 in the ones place
prime number a counting number that has only two factors
product an answer to a multiplication problem
square number a number that is equal to a counting number times itself
commutative ________ property of multiplication - the order in which the numbers are multiplied does not change the product
identity ________ property of multiplication - any number multiplied by one will always be that number
