Electricity Basic
Lesson 1
| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Electrical Force | A force that one charge exerts on another. When the charges are the same sign, they repel; when the charges are opposite, they attract. |
| Electrical Charge | a property of matter, either positive or negative |
| Positive Charge | Protons |
| Negative Charge | Electrons |
| Neutral Charge | Contains an equal number of protons and electrons |
| Electrical Field | The field around electrically charge objects |
| Force of Attraction | A force that pulls objects together |
| Force of Repulsion | A force that pushes object apart |
| Static Electricity | A buildup of charges on an object. |
| Static Discharge | The loss of static electricity as electric charges transfer from one object to another. |
| Charging by Friction | Transfer of electrons between the two objects that rubbed together |
| Charging by Conduction | Type of charging where the charge is transferred from a charge object to an uncharged object by touching them together. |
| Charging by Induction | Process of rearranging electrons on a neutral object by bringing a charge object closed to it. |
