Division

TermDefinition
fact family a group of related facts using the same numbers
variable a letter or symbol used to represent an unknown number
divisor the number that divides the dividend
dividend a number that is to be divided
quotient the result of a division problem
remainder the number that is left after one whole number is divided by another
unknown a missing value in a number sentence or equation
compatible numbers numbers that are easy to compute mentally
Parital quotients the method of dividing where you break the dividend into sections that are easy to divide?
