Graphing Linear Equations

TermDefinition
Set of all solutions Each ordered pair that is a solution to the equation. In the case of a linear function, the set of all its solutions is the line it plots.
Slope-intercept form A two-variable linear equation of the form y=mx+b, where m is the slope of the line and b is the y-intercept.
Standard form A two-variable linear equation of the form Ax+By=C, where A, B, and C are real numbers and A and B are nonzero
Ordered pair Coordinates in the x,y plane, in which the first value is the independent quantity, and the second is the dependent quantity.
y-intercept The point at which a graph intersects the y-axis.
x-intercept The point at which a graph intersects the x-axis.
point-slope form The form y−y1=mx−x1 for linear equations, where m is the slope of the line.
Parameter Any factor that defines a function and determines, or limits, its performance.
