Number Systems Vocab
Term | Definition |

Prime Number | A number that can only be divided by itself and 1. Examples: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29 |
Composite Number | A number that is divisible by itself, 1, and at least one other number. (NOT PRIME) Examples: 4, 6, 8, 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 16, 18, 20, 21, 22, 24, 26, 27, 28, 30 |
Square Numbers | When you multiply a value by itself. Examples: 0 * 0 = 0 5 * 5 - 25 1 * 1 = 1 6 * 6 = 36 2 * 2 = 4 7 * 7 = 49 3 * 3 = 9 8 * 8 = 64 4 * 4 = 16 9 * 9 = 81 |
Multiples | What we get when we multiply a value by an integer. * Think of it like counting by a certain number. Examples: Multiples of 5 are 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, .... Multiples of 3 are 3, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 21, 24, 27, 30, 33, 36... |
Factors | Numbers we can multiply together to get the number we want. * Remember to list them out from least to greatest. Examples: Factors of 10: 1, 2, 5, 10 Factors of 20: 1, 2, 4, 5, 10, 20 |
