GROWING PLANTS

SUN the star that is the central body of the solar system

SEEDS small, hard part of a plant that grows into a new plant
TREE plant having a permanently woody trunk and branches
VITAMINS a group of substances that are essential to the body in small quantities for normal metabolis
BRANCH an armlike division of the stem of a tree
PLANT a living thing that usually has stems, leaves, and roots, and grows in the ground
WATERFALL a steep fall of water from a height
MOOR area of open wasteland, often overgrown with grass and heath
ROOTS a part of the body of a plant that develops downward into the soil
STEM the part of a plant that grows in an opposite direction to the root and that supports a leaf, flower, or fruit.
FERTILIZER any substance used to fertilize the soil, esp. a commercial or chemical manure.
SOIL the land surface of the earth that is composed of disintegrated rock particles, humus, water, and air
SPROUT when a plant or tree begins to grow
NUTRIENTS elements feeding a plant or human being
ORGANIC a substance, as a fertilizer or pesticide, of animal or vegetable origin.
CHEMICAL Any substance used in or resulting from a reaction involving changes to atoms or molecules
INORGANIC not having the structure or characteristics of living organisms; not organic
PHOTOSYNTHESIS the production of organic materials from carbon dioxide and water, using sunlight as energy with the aid of chlorophyll
CLOROPHYLL Biochemistrythe green substance in plant leaves that produces food by photosynthesis
