Proportional Relationship **A relationship where you can find one quantity and multiply it with another number to get the second quantity. **Has a constant
Constant (of Proportionality) **A number you use to MULTIPLY one quantity to get another quantity in a proportional relationship **You multiply the constant and X to get Y.
How do you get the constant(k)? k=y/x (divided)
How many constants are there in a proportional relationship? 2
How are the constants related to each other? They are reciprocals of each other.
Equivalent Ratios **Have the same value **Can multiply one ratio to get another ratio.
Unit Rate A rate that is being compared to one of something.
Equation of a proportional relationship y=kx
How do you know a graph is proportional? Has a straight line and goes through (0, 0)
Where is the constant on a graph? When x = 1, the y value is the constant
