Quarter 1 Vocab

TermDefinition
key details the pieces of information within the paragraph or section of text that support the main idea.
main idea the main point the author is trying to make in a paragraph or section of text
central idea the overall idea the text is shaped around; the main point the author is trying to make
connotation the feeling associated with a word
denotation the dictionary definition of a word
tone the feeling the author wants to communicate, which is expressed through the words (connotation) that the author uses.
perspective how the author feels about/views the topic of the text
purpose the author's reason for writing the text
