Adjectives
Term | Definition |

Descriptive adjectives | Provides extra information about the noun being described, such as physical qualities, e.g: green, large. |
Evaluative adjectives | Adjectives that provide judgement based on opinion, e.g: sad, good. |
Comparatives | Used to express how two people or two things are different to each other, e.g: bigg-er, larg-er. |
Superlatives | Used to show how one person or thing is different to all the others of its kind, e.g.: bigg-est, smart-est. |
Antonyms | Adjecties with opposite meanings, e.g: good-bad, stupid-intelligent. |
Synonyms | Adjectives with similar meanings, e.g: angry-furious, happy-joyful. |
Pre-modifiers | Modifiers that come before the head of a noun/noun phrase, e.g: we had a 'pleasant' journey. |
Post-modifiers | Modifiers that come after the noun head, e.g: The man is the captain of the 'French Football Team'. |
