| colonoscopy | a procedure used to determine the cause of diarrhea,constipation , bleeding or lower abdominal pain by inserting a scope through the anus to provide direct visualization of the large intestines. |
| proctologist | are another type of GI specialist. They are specialist that treat disorders of the rectum and anus only. |
| endocrinologists | are specialist that treat diseases and disorders of the endocrine system, which includes glands that regulate and coordinate the body's systems. |
| gastroenterologist | are specialist that diagnose and treat disorders of the entire gastrointestinal tract, from the mouth to the anus as well as the liver and the pancreas. |
| CNS | is an abbreviation for the central nervous system. |
| EEG | stands for electroencephalography which is a procedure that records the electrical activity of the brain as a tracing called an electroencephalogram or EEG,on a strip of graph paper. |
| oncologist | a specialist who specializes in the detection and treatment of tumors and cancerous growths. |
| benign | when tumors are contain abnormal cells , but the cells do not invade and actively destroy surrounding tissue. |
| malignant | are when tumors that contain cells that grow uncontrollably ,invading and actively destroying the tissue around them . |
| metastasis | the spreading of abnormal cells to body sites far removed from the original tumor. |
| carcinogenesis | is a process that occurs for cells in the beginning phase which cells become malignant(cancerous) |
| hemipelgia | is when paralysis occurs on one side of the body commnly |
| parapelgia | is the paralysis that occurs in the lower extremities. |
| quadripelgia | is when paralysis occurs in the arms, legs, and all muscles below a cervical (neck) spinal surgery. |
| Encephalopathy | it is a term to used for a disease of the brain that alters brain functions or structures. |
| scratch test | is a test used to test patients to detect which allergies they are allergic to. |
| intradermal test | it is a test that introduces dilute solutions of allergens into the skin of the inner forearm or upper back with a fine gauge needle. |
| patch test | a test that is performed by placing a linen or paper patch on uninvolved skin and then using a dropper to soak the patch with suspected allergens. |
| RAST | stands for radioallergosorbent test in which a test is used for measuring blood levels of antibodies to specific allergens. |
| Electrocardiogram | an ECG provides the measurement of the heart's electrical activity |
| Electrocardiography | a routine part of a cardiovascular exam that is painless and safe diagnostic test. |
| stress test | a test that involves an exercise stress test involving a recording an ECG while the patient is exercising on a stationary bicycle , treadmill ,or a stair stepping ergometer. |
| Electroencephalogrophy | the recording of electrical activity of the brain on a strip of graph paper. |
| Computed Tomography | also know as CT scan, a radiographic exam that produces a three dimensional, cross sectional view of the brain. |
| MRI | also known as magnetic resonance imaging, is a viewing technique that enables licensed practitioners to see areas inside the body without exposing the patient to x-rays or surgery. |
| myleography | is an x-ray visualization of the spinal chord after the injection of a radioactive contrast medium or air into the spinal subarachnoid space between the second an most inner part of three membranes covering the spinal chord. |
| Electromyography | a diagnostic test that is used to detect neuroomuscular disorders or nerve damage. |
| arthroscopy | is a procedure that will enable the orthopedist to see inside a joint which is usually the knee , shoulder or hip with an arthroscope. |
