What are the visible and invisible elements of the Lord's Supper? Bread & Wine and Jesus’ Body and Blood
What is this union of bread with the body, of the wine with the blood called and why? Real Presence, because Jesus’ body and blood is really, truly, present in, with, and under the bread and wine
How can the bread and wine give life, forgiveness of sins, and salvation? It is the Word which gives it such power. "Given and shed for you for the forgiveness of sins"
Who is a worthy communicant? He who has faith in Christ and His words, “Given and shed for you for the forgiveness of your sins.”
Should a person who is weak in faith go to the Lord's Table? Why or why not? Yes, because one of the gifts of holy communion is strengthening of faith
What questions should a communicant ask himself before receiving the Lord's Supper? a. Am I a sinner? b. Am I sorry for my sins? c. Do I believe Jesus died to forgive my sins? d. Am I resolved, by the power of the Holy Spirit to amend my sinful life? e. Do I believe in the real presence?
Why is it important to believe what is received with the bread and wine? Because the apostle Paul said, "If you do not discern the bread and wine you will be guilty of His body and blood." (1 Cor 11:29)
What is the teaching of the Reformed church called and what do they say is received in the Lord's Supper? It is called “the symbolic understanding.” Which means you receive only bread and wine
What is the teaching of the Roman Catholic Church about the Lord's Supper? It is called transubstantiation.
Which means you receive only the Body and Blood What do Lutherans believe? You receive the Bread and Body AND the Wine and Blood
What is "open communion?" When anybody is allowed to take communion together, even though they do NOT believe the same meaning of the Lord’s Supper
How would you describe St. Paul’s practice for who goes to communion? Only those who believe the same, true meaning of the Lord's Supper commune. That it is our Savior Jesus’ body and blood with the bread and wine for a repentant sinner’s forgiveness.
Why do we practice communion this way? This is done out of love so that no one will receive the Sacrament to their harm.

Because God is holy and just , what does he require of every person? Matthew 5:48 Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.
If honest, what must we confess? We are sinners. 1 John 1:8 If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
What does God teach us in his Word concerning sin? Psalm 51:5 5 Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Romans 8:7 7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so.
What do we deserve because of Sin? Romans 6:23 23 For the wages of sin is death.............
Why is the Lord's Supper important for you to receive? Matthew 26:26-28
Redemption the action of regaining or gaining possession of something in exchange for payment, or clearing a debt.
Justified As if we have never sinned (saved)
Atonement reconciliation, especially between God and man

What are the written and spoken Word of the Gospel and the Sacraments? The means of grace.
What does God provide to us in His Sacraments? The Forgiveness of Sins Acts 22:16 Matthew 26:28
What was Jesus celebrating when he instituted the Lord’s Supper? The Passover Meal
What did people remember when they celebrated the Passover? God’s deliverance from Egypt and the Cruel hand of Pharaoh.
What do we remember when we receive the Lord’s Supper? 1 Corinthians 11:26 26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
What did Jesus say when He distributed the bread to His disciples? Now as they were eating, Jesus took bread, and after blessing it broke it and gave it to the disciples, and said, “Take, eat; this is my body.”
What did Jesus say when He distributed the wine to his disciples? 27 And he took a cup, and when he had given thanks he gave it to them, saying, “Drink of it, all of you, 28 for this is my blood of the[a] covenant
What do we receive when we eat His body and drink His blood? We receive the True body and True blood, in, with, and under the bread and the wine.
What is the chief blessing of the Holy Communion? 28 for this is my blood of the[a] covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.
When we celebrate Holy Communion, is Christ sacrificed over and over again each time? No 11 And every priest stands daily at his service, offering repeatedly the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when Christ[a] had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God,
Who is worthy to receive Communion? 27 Whoever eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty concerning the body and blood of the Lord. 28 Let a person examine himself, then, and so eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
