Data Visualization The graphical presentation of data with a focus on qualitative understanding
Data Series a group of related data values to be charted
Embedded Chart exists as an object on the same worksheet with the data
Chart Sheet a special worksheet that is dedicated to displaying chart objects
Quick Analysis tool is a contextual tool that appears when you select data in a worksheet and offers single-click access formatting
Pie Charts commonly used for depicting the relationships of the parts to the whole, such as comparing staff performance within a department or comparing the number of transactions of each product category within a time period
Line Charts help to convey change in data over a period of time
Column Charts useful for comparing data sets that are categorized, such as departments, product categories, or survey results
Bar Charts useful for working with categorical data
Scatter Chart type of chart that conveys the relationship between two numeric variables
Area Chart a variation of a stacked line chart that emphasizes the magnitude of change over time and visually depicts a trend
Combination Chart displays two different types of data by using multiple chart types in a single chart object
Legend an index within a chart that provides information about data
Gridlines the lines that go across charts to help gauge the size of bars, columns, or data lines
Sparklines small charts that are embedded into the cells in a worksheet, usually beside the data, to facilitate quick analysis of trends
Trendline line that uses current data to show trend or general direction of data
Stacked bar chart useful when you want to see how the individual parts add up to create the entire length of each bar
Data point an individual data value in a data series
Sunburst chart used to display hierarchical data
Data bars graphic components that are overlaid onto data in worksheet cells
