Respiration

TermDefinition
Respiration The process used by all living cells to release energy. It is an exothermic reaction that needs oxygen and produces carbon dioxide and water.
Chemical Energy Energy stored in the chemical bonds of a substance
Chemical Reaction The re-arrangement of atoms to form one or more new substances
endothermic reaction A reaction that absorbs energy
exothermic reaction A reaction that releases energy
glucose used as a source of energy in cellular respiration.
What happens during respiration? during respiration the cells break down food molecules (like sugar) and release the energy stored in the food.
