Unit 2: Order, Locate & Compare Rational Numbers

greatest to least | arrangement according to size, amount or value from the largest to the smallest, hottest to coldest, highest to lowest, etc. |
inequality | occurs when things are not equal |
integers | the set of whole numbers and their opposites; a positive number, a negative number or zero but not a fraction or a decimal fraction |
least to greatest | arrangement according to size, amount or value from the smallest to the largest, coldest to hottest, lowest to highest, etc. |
less than | < not as many as |
opposite number | two numbers having the same numeral but different signs, example: -4, +4 |
rational numbers | the set of numbers that can be written as a ratio of integers, including all integers, fractions, repeating decimals and terminating decimals. |
whole numbers | the set of numbers including zero and all counting numbers; no fractions, decimal fractions or negative numbers. |
set | a collection of items designated by curly braces { }, example: {0, 1, 2, 3} |
ratio | a multiplicative comparison of two quantities expressed with the same units. |
counting numbers | the set of numbers use for counting things. |
