Level 1 - Math Vocab

Math Vocabulary for Level 1

QuestionAnswer
Place Value The position of a digit in a number that tells the value of the digit.
Millions In a number, the period of three places to the left of the thousands period.
Period A group of three digits, separated by commas, starting from the right. (NOT Mr. D's word)
Expanded Form A number written as the sum of the values of its digits.
Greater than symbol > A symbol that points away from the greater number or expression..
Less than symbol < A symbol that points toward a lesser number or expression.
Rounding A process that determines which multiple of 10, 100, 1,000 and so on, a number is closest to.
Conjecture A statement that is believed to be true but has not been proven.
Families A term that Mr. D uses that replaces period.
