Food Adjectives

Use these words to describe food.

TermDefinition
BLAND plain, not tasty
CHILLED has to be stored in the fridge
DELICIOUS tastes really good
FROZEN has to be stored in the freezer
HEALTHY good for you
NUTRITIOUS healthy food that has a lot of nutrients, like broccoli
ORGANIC grown without pesticides/chemicals
OVERRIPE ripened too much & can't be eaten, like a black banana
PICKLED preserved in vinegar, like kimchi
REFRESHING has a high water content, like oranges
RUNNY semi-liquid texture, like some cheeses
SPICY prepared with a lot of spices, can be flavorful and/or hot
STALE not fresh, no longer nice to eat, especially foods like bread or chips that are older
TOUGH very hard to chew
YUCKY/GROSS tastes/looks really bad (informal)
YUMMY tastes really good (informal)
