| Term | Definition |

| Sum | The answer to an addition problem. |
| Quotient | The answer to a division problem. |
| Difference | The answer to a subtraction problem. |
| Product | The answer to a multiplication problem. |
| Variable | An unknown represented by a letter (X, N) |
| Coeffecient | The number that is next to the variable (4X; it's the 4) |
| Odd number | Ends in 1,3,5,7,9 |
| Even number | ends in 2,4,6,8,0 |
| Prime number | Only divisible by 1 and itself (7, 23, 37) |
| Integer | A number without a decimal (3, -27, 11, 13) |
| Twice a number | 2P |
| 4 less than a number | P-4 |
| Composite number | A number divided by MORE than just 1 and itself |
| Numerator | Top number of a fraction |
| Denominator | Bottom number a fraction |
| Reciprocal | A fraction that flipped upside down (3/7.......7/3) (1/4.......4) |
| Consecutive integer | sequential number 7,8 |
| Odd consecutive integers | sequential odds (5,7,9,11) |
| Even consecutive integers | sequential even (6,8,10,12) |
| Ordered Pair | (X,Y) grouped together (5, -8) |
| Factor | A number that multiplies into a number (20....2,10, 1,20, 4,5) |
| Multiple | A number that when you multiply the original number it will go into (7....7, 14, 21, 28) |
| Pi | 3.14 |
| Area of a circle formula | pi x r (squared) |
| Circumference of a circle formula | 2 x pi x r |
| Area of a rectangle | length x width |
| Area of a squre | side (squared) |
| Area of a triangle | 1/2 base x height |
| Pythagorean Theorem | a^2 + b^2 = c^2 |
| Mean | The average of a group of numbers |
| Median | The middle of a group of numbers (3,4, 5, 5, 5, 7, 8) Median =5 |

| Positive slope | goes slanting up |
| Negative slope | goes slanting down (right) |

| Ratio | A comparison of two numbers; notations include the use of fractions or colons |
