Place Value

TermDefinition
Place value The position of a digit in a number that tells the value of the digit.
Millions The place value to the left of the thousands period.
Expanded Form A number written as the sum of the values of its digits. Example 100+20+4=124
Rounding A process that determines which multiple of 10, 100, 1,000, and so on, a number is closest to.
Variable A letter that represents a number.
Inverse operations operations that undo each other. Example addition and subtraction.
Expression Contains numbers and at least one operation. Example 6 x 4
Equation A number sentence with an EQUAL sign.
