Antecedent Interventions

Antecedent Intervention A behaviour change strategy that manipulates contingency-independent antecedent stimuli (MO)
Behavioural Momentum A metaphor to describe a rate of responding and its resistance to change following an alteration in reinforcement conditions
Fixed-Time Schedule (FT) A schedule for delivery of non contingent stimuli in which a time interval remains in the same from one delivery to the next
Functional Communication Training (FCT) Establishes an appropriate communicative behaviour to compete with problem behaviours evoked by an establishing operation (EO)
High- Probability Request Sequence (High-P) When instructor presents a series of easy-to follow requests for which the participant has a history of compliance
Noncontingent Reinforcement (NCR) An antecedent intervention in which the stimuli with known reinforcing properties are delivered on a fixed-time or variable-time schedule independent of the learners behaviour
Variable-Time Schedule (VT) A schedule for the delivery of non-contingent stimuli in which the interval of time from one delivery to the next randomly varies around a given time
