chilly | a little cold |
freezing | very cold |
see your breath | you can literally see the air when you breathe on it |
bundle up | to wear layers of clothes to keep yourself warm |
drizzling | it is raining lightly |
spitting | a few raindrops are falling, but it isn’t really raining |
gusty | wind is heavy, but not continuous |
the heavens open | it starts raining heavily |
it is chucking it down | it is raining a lot. |
soaked | very wet |
damp | slightly wet |
overcast | the clouds are covering the sky |
dark overhead | the clouds are very black |
there is a storm brewing | a storm will start very soon |
lightning | a large electric flash of light |
thunder | the noise that you hear caused by lightning |
thunderstorms | storms that have lighting, thunder and it is also chucking it down as well |
the wind picks up | the wind becomes stronger |
a gale | a very strong wind, which can be dangerous |
it is baking hot | it is very hot |
it’s completely still | there’s no wind at all |
it is a scorcher | it is extremely hot |
frost | ice crystals on a frozen surface |
sleet | rain and snow mixed together |
a flurry of snow | light snow for a short time |
a blizzard | a storm with lots of snow and wind |
slush | snow or ice that has partly melted |
below freezing | the temperature is below 0°C |
weather forecast | the prediction for the next day or week of what the weather will be like |
