Chemical Reactions:)

chemical reactions info

QuestionAnswer
Physical Change: affectsonly the physical properties or characteristics...does not change chemical identity
Chemical Change: affects chemical structure and composition...identity is changed and properties change
Chemical reaction: the process through which a chemical change occurs
What are the evidences that a chemical reaction occured? production of gas(bubbles), change in color or odor, formation of a percipitate(a solid that is formed when 2 liquids are mixed), absorbtion/release of heat/light, permanet change in identity.
How many evidences are there? 5
coefficient? balance out matter in a reaction
reactants? what is used or what is at the start of a chemical reaction
products? what is made during/after a chemical reaction
subscripts? show the ratio of elements in a compound
Synthesis Reaction: When many reactants create 1 procuct
Decomposition Reaction: reaction in which 1 reactant makes many productEx.: H2Co3 -> H2O + CO
double replacement reaction: reaction where 2 elements (or ions) in 2 different compounds switch placesNaCl + AgF -> NaF + AgCl
single replacement reaction: reaction where one element from one compound switches places with one element from another compound.Zn + 2HCl -> ZnCl2 + H2
Endothermic reactions: chemical reactions where energy is absorbed.heat + 6Co2 + 6H2O -> C2H12O6 + 6O2
Exothermic reaction: energy is released2Al + Fe2O3 -> Al2O3 + 2Fe + heat
reactivity: how easily an atom reacts with others
Action activity: minimum amount of energy needed to start a chemical reaction
Reaction Rate: how fast a reaction occurs...can be affected by 2 things:Catalysts and Inhibitors
Catalysts: speed up reactions but are not used up in the reaction
Inhibitors: slow a reaction down

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
