G7M4 Percent Vocabulary

TermDefinition
Percent a number or ratio expressed as a fraction of 100.
Original Price the starting amount of an item before a markup or markdown
Sales Price the price the customer pays after a markup or markdown
Wholesale Price the price a store owner pays for an item
Profit the money that is gained from selling an item for more than wholesale price
Simple Interest money that you pay on a loan OR that you earn on your deposits
Tax a percent of a purchase that is added to the cost and paid to the government
Markup an increase in the price of something
Markdown a decrease in the price of something
Tip or Gratuity a percent added on to the cost of a service.
Commission a percent of a sales amount paid to the salesperson.
Discount a reduction in the cost of something
