TermDefinition
Random Sample a sample in which every element in the population has an equal chance of being selected.
Population the entire group considered for a survey, or all items being considered
Biased Sample a sample that does NOT represent the whole population
Distribute to give or spread out
Generalize to apply information from one item or example to a larger group
Point of View a way of thinking about something
Sample items from a group
Survey a set of questions used to gather information and make predictions
Data facts and statistics collected together for reference or analysis.
Ratio relation between amounts of sample and the number of total population
Random Variable a variable is subject to random change if its value is not predictable
Administer a Survey plan and carry out a survey
Distribution the way data is spread out
Frequency number of times something happens in a given period
Median the middle number in an ordered set of numbers
Range the distance between the greatest and least values; a measure of spread
