| Sample | A part of a population |
| Sample Space | The set of all possible outcomes |
| Average | Mean |
| Compound event | Events made up of two or more simple events |
| Outcome | Possible result of a probability experiment |
| Trial | Each repetition or observation of an experiment |
| Experimental probability | Ratio of the number of times an event occurs to the number of trials |
| Impossible | There is no way this outcome can occur |
| Certain | You will always get this outcome |
