numerator top number in a fraction; tells how many pieces you're talking about
denominator bottom number in a fraction; tells how many pieces in all for one whole
unit fraction a fraction with a numerator of one
equivalent fractions two fractions that are the same amount; multiply the top and bottom by the same number
mixed number a number with a whole and a fraction part
improper fraction a fraction where the numerator is larger than the denominator
adding or subtracting fractions the denominators must be the same
tenths one place after the decimal
hundredths two places after the decimal
penny $0.01
nickel $0.05
dime $0.10
quarter $0.25
