Measurement

TermDefinition
Volume The measure of the space a solid figure occupies.
Rectangular Prism A three-dimensional figure in which all six faces are rectangles.
Cube A three-dimensional figure with six congruent square faces.
Base One side of a parallelogram that is used to help find the area.
Area of the base (B) The amount of space taken up by a single face in a 3-dimensional figure.
Perimeter The distance around a closed plane figure.
Area The measure of the number of unit squares needed to cover a surface.
Customary System Unit of measure: length (in, ft, mi, yd) Capacity/Volume (fl. Oz, c, pt, qt, gal) Weight/Mass (oz, lb, T)
Metric System Unit of measure: length (mm, cm, m, km) Capacity/Volume (mL, L) Weight/Mass (mg, g, kg)
