commandable property A property that may be written with a priority on a scale from 1 (most important) to 16 (least important)
static device binding The manual association of network numbers and MAC addresses with BACnet Device instances.
dynamic object binding The identification of nodes containing certain objects with the Who-Has and I-Have services.
dynamic device binding The automatic discovery of network numbers and MAC address bindings for corresponding BACnet Device instances.
algorithmic change reporting A BACnet alarming feature that uses Event Enrollment objects to configure the alarm/event behavior of some other object property.
intrinsic reporting An alarming feature of certain BACnet objects where the alarm or event originates from the object.
ramping The changing from one lighting level to another at a fixed rate of change of level per second.
clamping The restriction of lighting level between minimum and maximum levels, as long as the light is ON.
fading The changing from one lighting level to another over a fixed period.
terminal A human-machine interface (HMI) that serves as an input and display device for text-based communication with another computer-based device.
stepping The incremental increasing or decreasing of lighting level in fixed steps.
XML A general-purpose specification for annotating text with information on structure and organization.
open building information exchange (oBIX) An XML-based model for conveying control information between any building automation protocols, including enterprise and proprietary protocols.
BACnet XML A proposed XML-based model for conveying control information between BACnet and other protocols.
intermediary framework A complete software and/or hardware solution for integrating multiple network-based protocol systems through a centralized interface.
gateway A network device that translates transmitted information between different protocols.
mapping The process of making an association between comparable concepts in a gateway.
enterprise system A software and networking solution for managing business operations.
Extensible Markup Language (XML) A general-purpose specification for annotating text with information on structure and organization.
energy harvesting A strategy where a device obtains power from its surrounding environment.
data warehouse A dedicated storage area for electronic data.
