Chapter 12 Vocab

TermDefinition
Data A set of information collected about people or things.
Statistical Question A question that asks about a set of data that can vary.
Dot Plot A number line with marks that can show the frequency of data.
Frequency The number of times a data value occurs.
Histogram A bar graph that shows the frequency of data in intervals.
Measure of Center A single value used to describe the middle of a data set.
Mean The sum of the data items divided by the number of data items.
Median The middle value when the data are written in order.
Mode The data value or values that occur most often.
Outlier A value that is much less or much greater than the other values in the data set.
