| Question | Answer |

| Random error | error that is above and below true value, usually due to limitations of equipment |
| Systematic error | error that is consistently in one direction, usually due to instrument or usually a method error |
| Precision | a measure of the certainty (±) |
| Accuracy | how close the value is to the accepted value |
| Absolute uncertainty | the ± value in a reading |
| Percentage uncertainty | the ± value in a reading divided by the reading |
| Absolute error | measured value less accepted value |
| Percentage error | measured value less accepted value all divided by accepted value |
| Reliability | judgement of if the data can be repeated with the method given |
| Validity | judgement of if the experiment is testing for what the RQ is stating it is testing for |
| Absolute uncertainty of the mean | The range of a trial divided by the number of trials. Statistical measure of uncertainty. |
| Instrument uncertainty | The calculation of uncertainty for a trial based on the limits of the instrumentation. |
| Percent difference | Calculation used to determine anomalous results. % difference = (value-mean)/mean |
