Angle Vocabulary

Complementary Angles 2 angles whose measures have a sum of 90
Supplementary angles 2 angles whose measures have a sum of 1800
Adjacent angles 2 angles that are side by side; they have a common vertex and ray
Vertical angles two angles formed by 2 intersecting lines; they are always congruent
Parallel lines 2 lines that are always the same distance apart and never touch
Transversal a line that cuts across two or more lines
Corresponding angles angles at the same location at each intersection when a transversal cuts across other lines
Alternate interior angles a pair of angles on the inner side of each of 2 lines but opposite sides
Alternate exterior angles a pair of angles on the outer side of each of 2 lines but opposite sides
Consecutive interior angles a pair of angles on the inner side of each of 2 lines and the same side
Consecutive exterior angles a pair of angles on the outer side of each of 2 lines and the same side
