cunning | getting what is wanted in a clever and often deceptive way |
rendezvous | an arrangement to meet someone at a particular time and place, often secretly |
effigy | a sculpture or model of a person intended to be damaged or destroyed in a protest or out of anger |
febrile | full of nervous excitement or activity |
pilfer | to steal (usually things of little value) |
arbitrary | decided or arranged without any reason or plan, often unfairly |
austere | severe in manner or appearance |
avaricious | extreme greed; need for wealth |
dissipate | to disperse or scatter |
inimical | tending to obstruct or harm |
