TermDefinition
Hologram Three dimensional text and images placed on IDs to prevent tampering. The image appears to change when the ID is tilted.
Lamination Plastic film enclosing many state issued IDs
Ghost Photo Image Copy of the person's photo added to an ID as a security feature. It is usually smaller and fainter than the original photo.
ID Checking Guide Reference tool used to candidate IDs. It includes samples and descriptions of current state drivers' licenses. It also includes detailed descriptions of minor and state ID cards.
ID Reader Device used to validate IDs. It does this by reading information enclosed in an ID's bar code or magnetic stripe.

How to tell if an ID is valid: It contains the owner's birth date It is current It contains the owner's signature It contains the owner's photo It is intact

IDs should NOT contain what words: Genuine Official Valid Secure Authentic Souvenir Novelty
IDs should NOT contain pictures of: Locks Keys
Certain features on a person usually do not change over time and should be used to verify that an ID belongs to that guest. What are the features: Chin Nose Eyes Hairline Shape of face
What is the proper procedure for checking IDs: 1. Greet the guest 2. Politely ask the guest for ID 3. Verify the ID 4. Seek further verification if necessary
IF you spot a fake ID, You can take several steps. These may include: Refusing Service Refusing entry to your establishment Confiscating the ID
