| Term | Definition |
|---|---|
| Dilation | A change in size using a center and a scale factor creating a similar figure. |
| Similar | Shapes that are the same, but one is a dilation of the other. Their corresponding sides are proportional, and their corresponding angles are congruent. |
| Slope | The quotient of the vertical distance and the horizontal distance between any two points on a line. |
| Center of Dilation | The point an object's dilation is measured from. |
| Coordinate Plane | A two dimensional surface formed by two intersecting and perpendicular number lines. |
| Coordinates | They describe the location of a single point on a coordinate plane. |
| Diagonal | A line that goes through vertices of a polygon that are not next to each other. |
| Length | The distance between two points. |
| Origin | The intersection of the x and y axes in a coordinate plane, described by the ordered pair (0,0) |
| Polygon | A closed plane figure made by line segments. |
| Proportional | Describes a constant numerical relationship between two objects. |
| Quotient | The answer to a division problem. |
| Ratio | The comparison of two quantities. |
| Scale Factor | The value you multiply one objects measurement by to get the second objects measurement in a dilation. |
| Scaled Copy | Every length in the original figure is increased or decreased by the same scaled factor. |
| Slope Triangle | Right triangles used to find the slope of a line. |
