QuestionAnswer
What is energy? - Energy is the capacity or power to do work, such as the capacity to move work. - Energy is a property of matter and space. - Energy can be transferred between objects and can also be converted in form.
5 different forms of energy include? Heat energy - Burner on a stove top (when turned on) - Light bulb (when turned on) Sound energy - Balloon popping - Aeroplane taking off
5 different forms of energy include? Electrical energy - Lightning from a storm - The energy used to charge your phone or other electronic devices. Kinetic energy - Letting a ball roll down a hill. - Writing with a pen.
5 different forms of energy include? Light energy - Produced light from the sun - The flames of a fire
What is potential energy? Potential energy is a form of energy that has the potential to move an object or cause something to move to a new position.
Examples of potential energy: Chemical energy: - Energy stored in batteries have the potential to turn on something or charge it. - Energy that is stored in food and used when eaten.
Examples of potential energy: Gravitational potential energy: - A ball being held above the ground. - Holding a pen above a table/desk
Examples of potential energy: Elastic potential energy - Energy being stored in a stretched elastic band. - Energy being squished into a spring when not in use.
What is energy efficiency? Energy efficiency is measuring how much energy is being used and how much energy is being wasted.
What is energy consumption? Energy consumption is the amount of energy of power used to do or charge something.
Ways to reduce energy consumption include: - The design of the house, some examples could include tinting your windows, including eaves, verandas or pergolas and insulating the walls and floors. - Unplugging devices when not in use.
What does an electrical star rating label tell us? These labels show us how efficient this appliance is, and they also tell us that the more stars they have and the lower the consumption number is the more efficient our appliance will be.
What is the law of conservation of energy? The law of conservation of energy means that energy can neither be created nor destroyed but can be transformed or transferred from one form to another form.
What is energy transformation? Energy can be changed, or transformed, from one type of energy into another type of energy.

Use these flashcards to help memorize information. Look at the large card and try to recall what is on the other side. Then click the card to flip it. If you knew the answer, click the green Know box. Otherwise, click the red Don't know box.

When you've placed seven or more cards in the Don't know box, click "retry" to try those cards again.

If you've accidentally put the card in the wrong box, just click on the card to take it out of the box.

You can also use your keyboard to move the cards as follows:

If you are logged in to your account, this website will remember which cards you know and don't know so that they are in the same box the next time you log in.

When you need a break, try one of the other activities listed below the flashcards like Matching, Snowman, or Hungry Bug. Although it may feel like you're playing a game, your brain is still making more connections with the information to help you out.
